The Miller's Son
When gods fight, no mortal wins.
The male and female gods of the west, Kronos and Cholas, foresee grave danger to their mortal subjects and choose to protect them from the unmerciful eastern deity, Sibelius. Suspecting that Sibelius intends to raise up a Sorcerer to subjugate the west, the western gods plant early seeds of deliverance.
Edward, a simple miller's son, living in a Dukedom with his father, has been taught to read, write, and fight -- three subjects forbidden to commoners, making Edward a criminal almost from birth. When challenged by a knight-in-training, he errs and bests his opponent, sealing his fate in the Dukedom. His father sends him to study at a monastery.
During his studies, he learns that his destiny has been planned by gods and aided by adepts. Edward must somehow develop into the man who can guide the west to victory over the eastern invaders.

Death Quest
Robert Trent, Questor Candidate, had been orphaned at the age of ten by a cataclysm that took his parents and poisoned most of the world of Newhome. High atop a mountain, survivors banded together and stockaded themselves against mauraders. The Core trained Trent to go on quest for Quaradian Crystals, the source of their power. The Core stockade is surrounded by Militants who are held at bay by defensive weapons that will fail when the crystals are gone. Their only hope is for someone to find more crystals and bring them back. As the chosen Questor, Trent is strapped to a glider and catapulted over the stockade and into the night. With little hope of success, Trent must land safely, climb down the mountain, cross a barren desert, and reach a spaceport – without dying from the poison that destroyed the land. Then, if he finds crystals, he must somehow return to the Core and save his people.
